Purpose

The Physics Help Room was created to help students who are taking the Introductory Physics classes. It is located in 1416 Randall Lab. The Help Room is a place where students taking the introductory physics course can go for help.  The Help Room is staffed by a combination of GSI's whose only teaching duty is tutoring in the Help Room, GSI's who teach the introductory labs, and faculty who teach in introductory classes.  All of the Help Room staff are able to answer questions from any physics class.

Hours of Operation

The Help Room is open Monday through Friday.  The hours for Monday through Thursday are 10 am to 6 pm and Friday from 10 am to 5 pm.  It closes on Wednesday at 4 pm for the department colloquium.  The telephone number in the Help Room is (734) 763-7222.  If you have a short question you may try calling this number, but the phone will only be answered if the instructors are not busy with other students.

Reference Materials

The Help Room has text books, solutions manuals, and laboratory manuals for the standard introductory physics course sequences. In addition, there are various other physics, and science-related books, including Schaum Outlines, and tables of integrals.

Computers

There are three computers in the Help Room.  The computers are primarily for submitting answers to the homework questions.
